Dr. Lynn Babington Named Provost — Among Organizational Changes

As Dr. Mark C. Reed '96 has been named the first lay president of Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia effective July 1, there has been a reorganization of responsibilities across the senior leadership team at Fairfield.

The changes will not take effect until Dr. Reed departs Fairfield in mid-June. However, Fr. von Arx announced the changes to ensure a seamless and smooth transition process, to begin immediately.

They include the following:

The Career Planning Center and the Office of Disability Support Services will move under the supervision of Dr. Lynn Babington, who will also assume the title of provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Thomas Pellegrino, who will be named senior vice president of Student Affairs, will assume responsibility for the Department of Athletics, Department of Public Safety, and Recreation.

Karen Pellegrino, dean of Enrollment, will assume the additional title of associate vice president and have the responsibility for both Undergraduate and Graduate / Continuing Studies Admission.

The Media Center will report to Jennifer Anderson, associate vice president for Marketing and Communications.

The Quick Center for the Arts will report to Wally Halas, vice president for University Advancement.

Michael Tortora will transition to a new role as executive assistant to the president and chief of staff with responsibility for the operation of the Office of the President, Trustee Affairs, special projects, and coordination between the President’s Office and other offices on campus.
