Under Doris’ leadership, the University currently sponsors 20 varsity sports. Fairfield has won the overall Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Commissioner’s Cup four times; the men have earned the Cup on three occasions while the women have won an impressive eight times – most recently in the 2014-15 academic year.

In 22 years with Doris at the helm, Fairfield’s athletic programs have won 48 conference championships – a count spanning 16 different varsity sports – and made 32 NCAA postseason appearances. The Stags are also consistently among the MAAC leaders in graduation rate and NCAA Academic Progress Rate.

In addition to his work at Fairfield, Doris has previously served a term as ECAC President and has chaired and sat on numerous committees for the ECAC as well as the NCAA and the MAAC.

Doris previously served as Director of Athletics at Marist College and was an associate athletic director and assistant men’s basketball coach under Richard “Digger” Phelps at Fordham University.
