The Cat in the Hat Comes to the Quick, Nov. 22
The 25th anniversary season of the Quick Center for the Arts continues this Sunday, November 22, at 3 p.m. with The Cat in the Hat, produced by Childsplay, one of the country’s leading professional theatre companies for young audiences.
The play, based on the beloved children’s book by Dr. Seuss, was directed and adapted by Katie Mitchell of Childsplay and is recommended for children ages three and up. Children and families will experience the excitement of Dr. Seuss’ classic book brought to life through puppeteers and cast members wearing costumes inspired by illustrations from the book.
Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel, is well known for his use of easy vocabulary words and clever rhyme schemes in his children’s books. The publication of The Cat in The Hat was a result of a challenge to write a compelling children’s primer. With some tricks (and a fish) and Thing Two and Thing One, with the Cat in The Hat, the fun's never done!
Following the performance there will be a reception with cookies and juice. Tickets are $15 for adults and children. For tickets visit the Quick Center website or call the box office at 203-254-4010.
The Cat in the Hat is part of the Quick Center Family Fun Series that offers opportunities for families to enjoy one-of-a-kind theatre experiences that enhance children’s learning and ignite creativity. Additional performances include Frosty on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1 p.m. and Goodnight Moon & The Runaway Bunny on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 3 p.m.
